Up and running in six steps

Build a poll, survey, quiz or study set — by hand or with ✨ Polly AI — drop a QR on your slide (or share a link / email it), and watch answers roll in live.

1 · Create a project 2 · Add the QR 3 · Present 4 · Companion app 5 · Go live

Create your first project

Everything starts in the PollSlide presenter — no install needed for this part. The same flow builds all four question products: Poll, Survey, Quiz and Study — just pick one from the product menu in the top-left.

  1. Go to app.pollslide.com and sign in (or create a free account).
  2. Click New presentation, give it a name, then Add question.
  3. Type your question, fill in the answer options, and tick the ✓ on the correct one if it's a quiz.
  4. Pick when to reveal the answer: a countdown that starts after the first response, or Manual only.
What's the capital of Austria?
A · Vienna✓ correct
B · Salzburg
C · Graz
💡
Once a question is saved, it stays live — your audience can answer it anytime. You only take it offline by clicking Edit.
✨
In a hurry? Click New with Polly, type a topic, and Polly drafts the whole set — questions, options and answers — in seconds.
📣
Survey, Quiz or Study? These don't need a slide — instead of a QR, hit 🔗 Share / 📧 Email to send a link, and responses roll in on their own time.

Put the QR code on your slide

This is how your audience joins — and how the companion app knows which poll to show.

  1. In the live view of any question, click 📋 Copy QR box for slide.
  2. Switch to your presentation app — Keynote or PowerPoint — and paste (⌘V) onto the slide where you want the poll.
  3. Position it wherever looks good — a corner works well. Each question has its own unique QR.

Point your phone camera here — no app needed for your audience.
📌
Want a clean question slide too? Use 📋 Copy as slide to paste the question itself, styled for presenting.
3

Present your slides — normally

No special mode. You present exactly as you always do.

  • Run your slideshow full-screen — Keynote, PowerPoint, a PDF, whatever you use — clicker and all.
  • When you reach a slide with a PollSlide QR, your audience scans it and starts answering.
  • Results update live — but where do you see them while presenting? That's the companion app, next.
✨
The PollSlide difference: your beautiful slide animations and videos stay exactly as you built them. PollSlide floats over your presentation — it doesn't replace it.

Install the Mac companion app

A small floating window that shows live results over your slides — and appears automatically when your QR is on screen.

  1. Download PollSlide Companion, open the downloaded file, and drag the app into your Applications folder.
  2. Open it from Applications. The first time, macOS confirms you're opening an app downloaded from the internet — click Open. It's signed and notarized by Apple, so there are no security warnings to work around.
  3. Sign in at app.pollslide.com/presenter. Click your email address at the top right, then choose 🔗 Connect Mac App. You get a 6-character code — it expires in 10 minutes.
  4. Go back to your Mac. Nothing opens on its own — in the menu bar at the top right of your screen, click the bar-chart icon, then “Disconnect Account (Re-pair)”. That opens the “Connect to PollSlide” window. Click the “Enter code” box, type the 6 characters and click “Connect”. When it says “Connected!”, you're linked.
  5. System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording → switch PollSlide Companion ON → quit the app and open it again (macOS only applies the permission to a freshly opened app).
⌨️
Have a code but don't know where to type it? The “Connect to PollSlide” window doesn't open on its own — in the menu bar at the top right of your screen, click the bar-chart icon, then “Disconnect Account (Re-pair)”. That's where the code goes. If it doesn't connect →
🔒
Your privacy: the companion reads your screen only to spot the PollSlide QR. It never records, saves, or uploads what's on your screen.

Go live — it's automatic

With the companion paired, presenting is hands-off.

🖥️
Using more than one screen? Do a 30-second dry run first — this is the single most important step for a trouble-free presentation. With multiple displays connected, the results window can open on the wrong screen. Before your audience is watching, bring up a QR slide so the window appears, and if it lands on the wrong display, simply drag it by its top bar onto the screen where your slides are showing. It stays there for the rest of your talk. Repeat this quick check any time your setup changes — a new room, projector, or TV.
  • Do the quick dry run above if you're using multiple screens, then relax — everything below is automatic.
  • Is auto-show on? It normally starts by itself. To check, click the bar-chart icon: if the menu shows “▶ Start Auto-Show (QR detect)”, click it. It's on when the item reads “■ Stop Auto-Show (QR detect)”.
  • Start presenting. When a QR slide appears, the results window pops up automatically, showing exactly that question.
  • Move to the next slide and it disappears on its own, keeping your slides clean.
  • Drag the window's top bar to reposition it; grab a corner to resize. It remembers nothing you don't want it to.
  • Don't let the window cover the QR — your audience has to scan it. Drag the window by its top bar, or put the QR in a corner of your slide.
  • When the answer reveals, you'll get a confetti celebration on the results. 🎉
⌨️
Need manual control? Press Control + Option + Y any time to show or hide the window yourself.

See results, export & keep your data

Everything your audience submits is yours — live, downloadable, and recoverable.

  • Live as it happens: the right panel shows results in real time — poll bars, a survey feed, a quiz leaderboard, or study progress.
  • Full report & metrics: hit 📊 Report for participants, accuracy, per-question breakdowns and response times.
  • Download anytime: export a clean CSV (with answers, correctness and timestamps) or print to PDF.
  • Nothing is lost: when you reset a tally, a dated copy is saved to 🗄 History first — reopen any past session by date and download it whenever you like.
🗄
Find every saved session under your account menu → History (saved data). Great for grading later or comparing classes over time.
★

Which present should I use?

Two ways to go live from PollSlide — pick by what you're presenting.

  • Present from a product (Poll · Survey · Quiz · Study): the fast, gamified way to run just your interactive questions. Build them, hit Present, and you get the full live experience — bars, leaderboards, podium, reveal and audience Q&A. Best when the questions are the session.
  • PresentSlide: the studio for a whole talk. Import your own slides (a PDF or images), weave your polls, quizzes and surveys between them, pick a theme (Gamified, Professional, Educational or Fun), and present your content and live results together in one full-screen show. Best when you have a deck and want to make it interactive.
📊
Either way it's the same QR and the same tally — present a question from QuizSlide or from PresentSlide and the counts add up in one place. Reset the tally for a fresh count (the old one is saved to History first, so nothing is lost).
