Mac Companion (any presentation)
How to set it up
- Download it free from pollslide.com/download, open the .dmg, and drag it into Applications. It's signed & notarized by Apple, so it opens with no security warnings.
- Sign in at app.pollslide.com/presenter. Click your email address at the top right, then choose 🔗 Connect Mac App. You get a 6-character code — it expires in 10 minutes.
- Go back to your Mac. Nothing opens on its own — in the menu bar at the top right of your screen, click the bar-chart icon, then “Disconnect Account (Re-pair)”. That opens the “Connect to PollSlide” window. Click the “Enter code” box, type the 6 characters and click “Connect”. When it says “Connected!”, you're linked.
- System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording → switch PollSlide Companion ON → quit the app and open it again (macOS only applies the permission to a freshly opened app).
- Don't let the window cover the QR — your audience has to scan it. Drag the window by its top bar, or put the QR in a corner of your slide.
- Do a quick dry run (especially with a second display) so the results window shows on the right screen — drag it there once and it stays. Then present from Keynote: the matching poll appears automatically whenever your QR is on screen.

PowerPoint Add-in
How to set it up
- Get it from Microsoft Marketplace — or in PowerPoint, Insert → Get Add-ins and search “PollSlide”.
- PollSlide LIVE appears on your slide as a box. Sign in with your PollSlide account, then pick your presentation and the question this slide should show.
- People still need a way in: in PollSlide, open the same question and click “Copy QR box for slide”, then paste it onto the slide, next to the results.
- If the question has a picture, a GIF or a video, add it to the slide too, the same way you add any picture in PowerPoint.
- Start your slide show. The bars move as the answers arrive, and “Reveal now” shows the right answer.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need an add-in to use PollSlide with my slides?
No. Paste your poll's QR code onto any slide — Keynote, PowerPoint, Google Slides or a PDF — and your audience scans it and answers on their phones. The add-in and the Mac companion add live results on top; neither is required to run a poll.
Is there a PowerPoint add-in?
Yes. PollSlide LIVE is in Microsoft Marketplace and works in PowerPoint on Windows, Mac and the web: in PowerPoint, choose Insert → Get Add-ins and search for “PollSlide”. The QR-on-slide method works in PowerPoint too.
What does the Mac companion do?
It is a free floating window that shows live results over any presentation — Keynote, PowerPoint or a PDF — and auto-detects your poll's QR, so the matching poll appears whenever that slide is on screen. It is signed and notarized by Apple.
Does the companion app work on Windows?
No — the companion is for Mac (macOS 14 Sonoma or later, Apple Silicon and Intel). On Windows, use PollSlide LIVE, the PowerPoint add-in: it shows the results on the slide. The QR-on-slide method works too.
Does PollSlide work with Google Slides?
Yes, with the QR-on-slide method: paste the QR onto any slide and your audience votes on their phones. A native Google Slides integration is planned but not yet available.
Does my audience need to install anything?
No. They scan the QR or go to pollslide.com/join and type the code, then answer in their phone's browser — no app and no account.
