PollSlide isn't a PowerPoint theme or a slide template — it's a separate live-response layer that sits on top of whatever you're already presenting. You keep your PowerPoint file exactly as it is; PollSlide handles the question, the QR code, the live results and the scoring. This page walks through the real, working setup for PowerPoint specifically — not a hypothetical future version of it.
How it works with PowerPoint
Six steps, and the first two only need to happen once per question — after that it's just present and go.
- Write your question in PollSlide. Build a poll, survey, quiz or study question at app.pollslide.com — type it yourself, or describe the topic (or paste a PDF or your notes) and let Polly AI draft the questions and answers for you.
- Copy the QR box. Open that question's live view in PollSlide and click “Copy QR box for slide.” That copies a ready-made image containing the QR code and the join code.
- Paste it into PowerPoint. Click onto the slide you want it on, then Home → Paste (or Ctrl/Cmd+V) to drop it straight in — this works the same way in PowerPoint on Windows, Mac and PowerPoint for the web. If you'd rather save it as an image file first, Insert → Pictures does the same job. Resize it and tuck it in a corner so it doesn't fight with your content.
- Present as normal. Start your PowerPoint slide show exactly like you always do — Slide Show → From Beginning, or presenter view, or a Teams/Zoom screen share. Nothing about your presentation workflow changes.
- Your audience scans and answers. When that slide is on screen, people scan the QR with their phone's camera, or go to pollslide.com/join and type the short code. It opens in their phone's browser — no app to install, no account to create.
- Watch results come in live. Check the live results in a browser tab on a second screen or monitor. On a Mac, you can instead open the free PollSlide companion app, which detects which question's QR is on screen and floats the matching results window on top of PowerPoint automatically — no alt-tabbing mid-sentence.
PowerPoint, Google Slides or Keynote — one trick, three tools
The QR-on-slide method is universal, but pasting an image works a little differently depending what you're presenting from:
📊 PowerPoint
Home → Paste (or Insert → Pictures) drops the QR box straight onto the slide. Identical on Windows, Mac and PowerPoint for the web.
🅶 Google Slides
Paste the QR image directly onto a slide in the browser. If a straight paste doesn't work, Insert → Image does the same thing.
🍎 Keynote
Paste it onto a slide the same way. Keynote has no third-party plugin ecosystem, so the free Mac companion app — floating live results over Keynote automatically — is the real integration here, not a native plugin.
What you can run over your PowerPoint slides
📊 Live polls
Ask a question, watch the results fill in over your slide as answers land.
📝 Surveys
Multiple choice, rating scales and open text, gathered right alongside your deck.

🙈 Nothing for your audience to install
A phone camera and a browser is the whole requirement. No app, no account, no download.
🧩 One tool, not four
Polls, surveys, quizzes and study sets in a single product and a single price, instead of stitching several tools together.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to install a plugin or add-in to use PollSlide with PowerPoint?
No, not to get started. Open your question's live view in PollSlide, click “Copy QR box for slide,” and paste it onto any PowerPoint slide. Present normally — your audience scans it with their phone. It works today, on any PowerPoint you already have.
Does this work on Windows, Mac and PowerPoint for the web?
Yes. The QR code is just a pasted image, so it works identically in PowerPoint on Windows, Mac and PowerPoint for the web. Viewing live results in a browser tab also works on every platform. The free companion app that floats results over your deck automatically is macOS only.
Is there a native PowerPoint add-in I can install right now?
Not yet. A PollSlide add-in built on Office.js has been submitted and is currently in review with Microsoft — it isn't available to install today. Until it's approved, the QR-on-slide method above gives you the same live results with zero installs, on any OS running PowerPoint.
Is PollSlide free to use with PowerPoint?
Yes. The free plan runs full, real presentations — 3 saved presentations, 25 participants per session and 5 Polly AI question generations a month, with no credit card required.
Does my audience need to download an app to answer?
No. They scan the QR code on your slide, or go to pollslide.com/join and type the short code, then answer right in their phone's browser. No app and no account needed.
